In 2021, running for just under a year, Teen’s Combating Parkinson’s launched a letter writing project in collaboration with the Columbia University Center of Excellence. Teens were given an opportunity to write uplifting messages to newly diagnosed patients. In doing so, the teens who collaborated were immersed in the Parkinson’s community and the patients’ demeanors were raised. The importance in doing projects such as these include reminding these patients that they are not alone. Over 50 teens joined together to write over 250 handwritten letters. With technology constantly taking over new aspects of our lives each year there is something special about receiving a handwritten note. We had so much fun with this project and can’t wait to continue amazing projects such as these!
